Working with Young People Who Self Harm Workshop
This workshop will give participants knowledge of risk and protective factors for young people in relationship to self harm / self injury. It utilises the latest research to inform best practice strategies that can be implemented into your day-to-day work with young people. It will give insights into the reasons young people undertake this behaviour. It will also give specific practical strategies that participants will be able to utilise in their daily work with young people - firstly, in building protective factors for all young people and secondly, in working with young people that have commenced self harm\self injury.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN
· Understand differences and links between self harm / injury and suicidal behaviour.
· Identifying those most at risk of self harm / injury.
· Risk factors for self harm / injury behaviour.
· Protective factors for self harm / injury behaviour.
· Strategies to address self harming / injury behaviour - short/long term.

This half-day workshop is designed for those working face-to-face with young people - youth workers, residential care staff, teachers, chaplins, school counsellors, psychologists, counsellors and tertiary students training in these areas will all gain skills and knowledge in attending this workshop.
Building Resilience in Young People
This workshop will give participants knowledge and skills in building resilience in the young people they work with. It utilises the latest research to inform best practice strategies that can be implemented into your day-to-day work with young people. It will deconstruct resilience so as to gain a thorough insight into the components needed to build "Bounce Ability". Strategies are then built around these components to include them into your daily work with young people.
